What we’re witnessing is the beginning of the end.

Hillary claims that she’s ready to be President “on Day One. But if her desperate behavior in recent days is how she handles the pressure of a primary campaign, why should we believe that she would be the calm, thoughtful Commander-in-Chief when faced with far more serious challenges in the Oval Office?

Her train wreck of a campaign and her current meltdown show that she would be far from ready on Day One!

Often, in our discussions, I have taken the position that these individuals have true contempt for the electorate. Nothing can speak so eloquently to the truth of this than Clinton’s espoused position on ‘bringing the jobs back’, in contrast to her voting record on NAFTA which was given life on her husband’s watch. She is either totally out of touch, or equally contemptous of what the electorate knows and believes to be true. In this case, she is both.

Clinton’s campaign manager’s statement, “If Barack Obama’s campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed…”, goes beyond being disingenuous to being offensive in itself.

Hard to believe her organization could be so stupid as to release the photo. Such sleazy tactics, borrowed from the Karl Rove playbook, should be left to the Republicans.

They’re better at dirty tricks, anyway— they have so much more practice.

Now the Obama camp should release a photo of Monica Lewinsky’s dress.

I’ve been skeptical from Day One about Hillary’s claim to be “tested, vetted and Ready on Day One.”

First, Hillary is now 60. By claiming to have “35 years of experience,” she’s obviously counting everything she’s done since graduating from college at age 25. A dubious claim, at best.

Moreover, I just don’t recall any time when she was at the center of any major national crisis (other than the one created by Bill).

Neither, apparently, do her own campaign strategists.

From Maureen Dowd’s column in today’s NY TIMES:

“On a conference call Friday with Hillary’s ever-more-hysterical male strategists, Slate’s John Dickerson asked exactly when she had been tested in a foreign policy crisis. After a silence long enough to knit a sweater in, as the Web site The Hotline put it, Mark Penn cited “her work on the Armed Services Committee.â€?

There it is, folks. That’s the basis for her phony claim. In Hillary-speak, apparently, working on the Armed Services Committee with John McCain qualifies as a “foreign policy crisis.”

So much for being “ready” to pick up the Red Phone at 3 am!
