A Middle East Truce Without Our Help

While we are busy starting wars, sworn enemies are seeking peace. It is no surprise that Hamas and Israel have been able to reach this tentative deal without interference from our government and way-over-her-head Secretary of State.

Israel and the radical Islamic group Hamas have agreed on a truce to begin Thursday, Egypt’s state-owned news agency said Tuesday.

A Hamas official in Gaza, speaking on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to release the information, confirmed the truce.

Israeli officials declined to confirm a deal, but said Israel’s negotiator in the truce talks was rushing to Cairo and that they were “cautiously optimistic.”

Could this be the beginning of a trend in which the U.S. is not the power-broker for every peace treaty between Israel and another political entity?

The sad part is that we would have a much better chance of being a positive influence on opposing parties in the region if the representatives from our government didn’t act so incompetently. Does anyone really believe Condi Rice can accomplish anything positive beyond being a successful administrator at Stanford?

Henry Kissinger she’s not (that statement has many levels).

I’m wondering if Hillary Clinton wouldn’t make a more effective Secretary of State.

    Just wondering.

Doubtful. She already hallucinated a sniper attack as the First Lady. I can only imagine what acts of war she will “experience” as our nation’s top diplomat.
