Patriotism. America, a country that has deceived and tortured, with a government who would fool its people into believing things that when examined are rediculouse, a country where the rotten flagpoles of FREEDOM and LIBERTY have been totally disregarded in a vast majority of its actions. I am not a terrorist, nor a racist, yet I cannot but feel a little piece of sadness for all those who can be patriotic to a country who produce such things as guantanamo bay and invest more money in defence-(war)-than fixing the countries dept and fixing the lives of its many lower class citizens.

Patriotism: deceptio est democracy.

I love this essay. This is absolutely what I was thinking this entire year. ( I moved here this year, from germany)
I think it is sad how some people here live in their little world. And the only thing they see is America and themselves.
Once I met a boy who was totally offended by the way Obama handles all the Situations in America. He told me : All this money he sends to the poor countries .. belongs to us and America. We need it more than Haiti, Africa, and all those countries.
I was shocked.
@ Tracy .. I am 17 years old and I am shocked by your opinion (Personal .. I think Obama is a good president. He is looking and reaching out for others and he didn’t start at 0. If you think about it. All the trouble you see now.. was actually created by Bush. Obama tries to solve everything .. but of course there are people who are not understanding at all and pretty judgemental about everything)
What I hear from you is not YOUR opinion.. Its propably your parents opinion.
Or Is there any reasonable fact you have for your opinion?
Btw..I love America. <3 You live in a great country.. just don't judge everything and make it worse than it is. Be more optimistic.
