The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia gave $10 million to $25 million to the William J. Other foreign government givers include Norway, Kuwait, Qatar, Brunei, Oman, Italy and Jamaica. The Dutch national lottery gave $5 million to $10 million.

Congratulations to Senator Barack Obama for officially clinching the Democratic Party’s nomination for President today. While I certainly do not agree with his stance on many issues, it is very encouraging to see what a country can accomplish when it prioritizes substance over immutable characteristics like race and/or gender. Obama may be the first black major party candidate for President but we should view him as the Democratic Party’s best choice, not just the black one.

He communicated his message much more effectively than the other Democratic candidates, particularly the need for change from the current scorched Earth politics we have in the Beltway. Yes, he does have his faults, particularly associations with some questionable individuals, but show me a perfect politician and I’ll sell you a very nice bridge. As Americans, we should all be proud of his accomplishments and be pulling for him this fall. Electing a Washington stalwart like McCain and/or Hillary does not bring about change.

Disenchanted Hillary voters would do themselves a disservice if they vote for Senator McCain over Senator Obama. Besides the ridiculous support of a gas tax holiday, Hillary and McCain oppose each other on virtually every issue while Hillary and Obama agree on virtually every issue. Why would you vote for someone that supports policies that you oppose? Let’s make this election about the issues for a change and not about sensationalized scandals and the quotes of former pastors and supporters. This election is not about them, it is about us taking back our country from power-hungry criminals.

It is noon on January 20th, 2009, and Barack Obama has just taken the oath of office as the 44th President of the United States.

He speaks:

“My fellow Americans, before I address you in my new role and give you my thoughts on this occasion, I want to acknowledge the gentleman seated in the row behind me – an outstanding jurist and a true American, Associate Justice John Paul Stevens. Earlier this year, Justice Stevens celebrated his 88th birthday, and earlier today, he handed me his letter of resignation from the court he has served with distinction for 33 years.

John Stevens told me that he delayed his resignation until this election, hoping that a new president would appoint a successor who shared his judicial philosophy. I am personally grateful that he chose to wait to announce his retirement, and honored that I will have the opportunity to name someone who will carry on his liberal tradition.

To that end, I am announcing that tomorrow, in my first official act as President, I will submit the name of just such a person — a distinguished American, who recently completed one of the most historic and courageous campaigns in American history and who, I am certain, will bring compassion, honor and distinction to the seat that Justice Stevens has graced.

My fellow Americans, I give you the next Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Clinton’s proposal to suspend the 18.4-cent-per-gallon federal gasoline tax for the summer — an idea belittled by most economists and rejected by Obama as a political gimmick — proved to be a winner in West Virginia. Voters supported the gas tax suspension by an almost 2-to-1 margin. Those voters who supported suspending the gas tax broke for Clinton, 74 to 19 percent.

Apparently, West Virginia voters fail to appreciate and/or understand the basic economic rules of supply and demand. McCain and Hillary are hoping the rest of the country follows suit and supports saving a few bucks a month so we can become even more dependent on a resource controlled by cartels and terrorist organizations. Playing on the stupidity and fears of Americans is a very bipartisan tradition.

How else to describe her frantic campaigning, highlighted by her disturbing willingness, if not compulsion, to say anything to win the nomination?

Her latest bizarre performance was her outrageous claim surrounding her trip to Bosnia in 1996.

First, a Fact Check: The war was over when she landed in Tuzla on March 25, 1996. It was over, although she recalls “landing under sniper fire. It was over when “we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.

Now, a reality check: If I had to dash across the tarmac while ducking under sniper fire, I think I’d remember that. To claim that it happened when it clearly did not is hardly a “misstatement;” it is, quite obviously, a deliberate exaggeration.

My take: Clinton made up Bosnian sniper fire in an attempt to show that she’s tougher than Barack Obama; that she’s a hardened, seasoned, commander in chief ready to respond to crisis when the “red phone of her fear-mongering ad rings.

She now claims that her Bosnia story was a “misstatement? I think not.

Not when it’s perfectly consistent with her repeated and ludicrous claim that she has “35 years’ experience,”

That means that she’s counting her entire life since graduating from law school in 1973.

My take on that: Preposterous.

Now you can decide for yourself whom to vote for, but this episode, coming after so many others like it, cinches it for me.

What the United States needs now is not more braggadocio from the White House.

We’ve had a seven-year dose.

That’s enough.
