  • Birtherism isn’t dead May 18, 2012
Discussion of President Obama’s place of birth died down significantly when he released his long-form birth certicate. But birtherism still lives, even if it no longer gets as much attention. Nationally, conservative bloggers have seized an opportunity to raise the issue. In some places disbelief in Obama’s America origins is still strong, and politicians ar […]

  • Wisconsin recall slipping away from Democrats May 18, 2012
Just two and a half weeks remain in the recall of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R), and momentum seems to be firmly on the GOP’s side. All three polls out this week show Walker leading Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett (D) by between 5 percent and 9 percent. Perhaps more illustrative, though, are the candidate’s personal favorability and approval numbers. Read full […]

He Still Doesn’t Get It

Government is full of second guessers. The history of public policies in this theatre goes back decades. Much of it has been articlulated in these commentaries. Leave it to the next administration, and the next, to see who was the wiser, if we survive.

You,in your elder years, may look back on this with reflection. For me, it will be a history I will hopefully live through part of, and whose entirety I will never know.

It is all a matter of blind luck. All political rhetoric is classical standard bullshit designed to enable the seeker to rise to power.

Had it been an army of religious zealots with a nuclear arsenal at their disposal vs. Kennedy in 1961, it is possible that would not be here to discuss it now.

“Those who came to heal you, will kill you!!”

THAT’S REALITY!! THAT IS WHY WE MUST PREVAIL, AT ANY COST!!

  • DAD

AS an afterthought, ponder this, young man. That recent business in Great Britain was particularly unsettling to me. Why?? Because I can no longer feel secure that certain individuals whom I have looked on as colleagues all this time, are not really my enemies, and wish us all dead.

    NOW THAT TOO, IS REALITY!!

…and…in your quiet moments between miscellaneous ramblings in these columns, revisit the writings of George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, and Bernard Lewis. Islamic extremism is every bit a form of totalitarianism. It should be regarded as such, and dealt with as such.

Today’s reality makes Joseph McCarthy’s issues of a world wide communist conspiracy a Sunday’s walk in the park by comparison.

  • DAD

You, having majored in political science, might also revisit Machiavelli, Torquemada, Marx, Engels, Hitler, Stalin, Mao Tze-Tung, Ho Chi Minh, Arafat, Hussein, and the collective writings of Bin Laden et al, lovingly referred to as:
“What we do on our summer vacations!”

Bush can’t speak English, doesn’t know history or geography, and he doesn’t know how to think logically– but he sure knows how to LIE.

    He’s a phony Texan, and he’s a phony president.

God save our country from this inferior little man and his Saudi hand-holding family.

  • DAD

    Vince….
BUSH isn’t THE ISSUE. He is becoming history One needs to start looking beyond Bush. In my comments I have addressed what I consider to be THE issue.
What ever the makeup of the administration which follows him will be obliged to deal with it.

  • Well said all, DAD! When the Bush haters lose the object of their passion, they will, after all, be left with the same daily drugery of political reality and the ravages of primitive human behavior. Education is the best way to enforce the standards of advanced civlization.

How long will it be before “…they love their children, more than they hate us…” Some Jewish Guy … “the beat goes on….the beat goes on….”

    “Chorus:
The beat goes on, the beat goes on
Drums keep pounding a rhythm to the brain
La de da de de, la de da de da

Charleston was once the rage, uh huh
History has turned the page, uh huh
The mini skirts the current thing, uh huh
Teenybopper is our newborn king, uh huh

    Chorus

The grocery store’s the super mart, uh huh
Little girls still break their hearts, uh huh
And men still keep on marching off to war
Electrically they keep a baseball score

    Chorus

Grandmas sit in chairs and reminisce
Boys keep chasing girls to get a kiss
The cars keep going faster all the time
Bums still cry “hey buddy, have you got a dime”

    Chorus”

    The lament of a suicide bomber’s mother….

    “Allah be praised!”
    “Just yesterday they were children!”
    “They blow up so fast!”

  • DAD

The pride of the suicide bomber’s mother:

    “Praise Allah!”
“Just yesterday he was a child!”
    “They blow up so fast!”

  • DAD

Yes….when WILL they begin to love their children more than they hate us???

  • DAD, lets just say that it’ll be the longest tail-gate party you ever saw…Maybe the only one?! ;-) Does sharia law allow tail-gate parties? I know the beer is out, but what about BBQ?

  • DAD

    If BBQ…..no pork!!

  • Vince Williams

I beg you pardon, D__ Almighty, but I was responding to Josh’s post, which was about Bush, and his not getting it.

So unlike you, I was addressing just the issue at hand.

  • Vince Williams

Apt song choice for you, DM.

Sonny said that Cher really believed the moon was made of cheese.

  • “…La de da de de, la de da de da…”

  • DAD

As was I, Vince…..as was I. Are you not getting it as well???

  • Vince Williams

    You were talking about barbecue.

I have a recipe somewhere else.

  • DAD

BBQ was a nod to DM’s quip. The serious commentary preceded it…..start’s at the top of the column.
