  • Birtherism isn’t dead May 18, 2012
Discussion of President Obama’s place of birth died down significantly when he released his long-form birth certicate. But birtherism still lives, even if it no longer gets as much attention. Nationally, conservative bloggers have seized an opportunity to raise the issue. In some places disbelief in Obama’s America origins is still strong, and politicians ar […]

  • Wisconsin recall slipping away from Democrats May 18, 2012
Just two and a half weeks remain in the recall of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R), and momentum seems to be firmly on the GOP’s side. All three polls out this week show Walker leading Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett (D) by between 5 percent and 9 percent. Perhaps more illustrative, though, are the candidate’s personal favorability and approval numbers. Read full […]

McCain Suffering From PTSD?

As his poll numbers continue to drop, there must be chaos inside John McCain’s campaign…panic among his advisers …and absolute madness (and rage) inside the head of John McCain himself.

Mr. Straight Talk, the War Hero is surely in a state of shock as he once again sees his dream of the White House slipping away, just as it did in 2000 when an undistinguished Governor from Texas…a spoiled rich kid who had never even served his country …beat him in the party’s primaries.

It must be déjà vu for John McCain, as this time he appears headed for defeat at the hands of a freshman Senator who, in McCain’s mind, doesn’t even belong on the same stage as the GOP candidate.

John McCain has always been frank about his burning desire to be president. He wants it not for any noble reason but just because he considers himself uniquely qualified to hold that office…because he feels he’s entitled to it, and because…well…he wants it.

McCain’s actions and words confirm that it’s a goal he’s willing to pursue at any cost. And so it must be particularly galling to see an “uppity black man” – with just a fraction of McCain’s experience – leading him in the polls and poised to snatch the prize from him.

Couple this bitter disappointment with McCain’s notorious temper and flyboy recklessness and perhaps his belligerence towards Obama and his erratic behavior in recent weeks isn’t so hard to explain after all.

    Steve,

I expect that you will be at the debate at Hofstra tonight so you can ask McCain in person why he thinks someone with admittedly no economic experience is qualified to lead the largest economy in the world in a time of crisis and recession. We will all be waiting to hear his response.

  • Steve Levine

I tried to get tickets, but the debate is open only to Hofstra students. Even the faculty won’t be admitted; they’ll have to watch the proceedings from the faculty lounge!

Your question is only ONE of several I would ask McCain, including why the candidate who claims to put “country first” chose a clearly unqualified Sarah Palin as his running mate.
And whether he believes Obama is dangerous to America because he “pals around with terrorists.” And whether he approves of the ugly, incendiary comments made by his supporters at his rallies.

One might expect tha same non-response from Obama in that regard. Neither of them found it politically expedient to deal with the sources of the problem: 30 years of affirmative action policies in financing unqualified home buyers, a travesty in the oversight of same, and corporate greed. Both sides of the aisle equally culpable.
