Michelle Malkin Needs To Get A Life

Dunkin’ Donuts pulled a television spot featuring Rachael Ray this weekend after Michelle Malkin, hatemonger extraordinaire, associated it with terrorists (we all know how much suicide bombers love a nice cup of coffee and a donut before they blow themselves up).

In the commercial, Ray is wearing a scarf that Malkin said resembled a kiffiyeh, Middle Eastern garb that is “popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos.”

I suspect this was not a random targeting by Ms. Malkin, noting Ms. Ray’s connections to Oprah Winfrey, who has been one of Senator Obama’s biggest supporters. With so many real issues facing our country, this is what Michelle Malkin cares about – Rachel Ray’s clothes in a Dunkin’ Donuts commercial. More evidence that conservatives have gone bankrupt in the ideas department.

We can expect to see more of this sort of thing as the political season advances.

The Republicans can’t brag about the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan, the economy, or foreign policy successes, so right-wing hate merchants like Malkin and Ann Coulter have to stir up the obscuring dust somehow.

Their kind aren’t really pundits, anyway— they’re in showbiz, too.

I expect comments like this from the Republican right. But I didn’t expect Dunkin’ Donuts to cave in to this crap by pulling the commercial off TV!!

Was the company afraid of offending its terrorist customers?

We are indeed in the midst of the silly season.

This woman needs to be focused on important issues rather then nit picking at advertisements. The more people like her continue to fret over minuscule things in the media the more the terrorist continue to win. Dunkin Donuts has to grow up, pulling an ad just because a critic didn’t agree is very disappointing and makes me think that DD’s top dogs are a bunch of sissies. DD and MM you disgust me!!

LOL…Malkin is afraid of a piece of cloth? LOL
Or is she just another loud mouth wanna-be female Rush Limbaugh? FOX News…the right wing grocery store tabloid of the television news industry. A perfect home for her kind.

Apparently “Miss M” underestimates America’s love for their Donuts. Apparently Dunkin’ Donuts overestimates their advertising – as a)If I never craved a donut until Rachel Ray mentioned one and b) a simple, less expensive “still” photograph of a thickly lathered gooey chocolate dripping down the sides of a shimmery glazed circle of fried dough with eye catching colorful sprinkles would set my cravings churning & c) as if a downtown street vendor Schmata would quell the yearnings. In fact, what Miss M failed to mention was the real crime of the story. That a short necked swaying towards stocky round faced woman should even dare to wrap ANYTHING around the neck! Sooo not flattering. So Fender Bender mishap. Fire the Stylist who couldn’t possibly have dreamed up this subtle “terrorist” subliminal if she hasn’t even a clue about Fashion Do’s & Don’t 101. A Donut is a Donut – a scarf is a scarf – bad accessorizing is well…just that. I simply cannot boycott EVERYTHING in America, particularly when there are REAL ISSUES to cause concern. Miss M’s stupidity only brought further attention and CONTENTION thruout America with her overzealous over reading into what never would have made a flicker on most American’s radars. Soon we’ll be reading stories of women being attacked on buses & apartment lobbies for wearing b&w Schmatas with fringe. Fur coats are now so passe. Well…..time to make the Donuts! (now there was a good campaign!) Yours Truly Yawning in the US at yet another media network to nowhere……TC

Steve’s observation of May 28th give food for thought. Perhaps the company’s concerns are less for their clientele than for those who operate their venues.

The keffiyah has been worn by British, Australian, and U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan because of its practicality in a desert environment.

We wouldn’t expect such a fame-hungry brazen liar as Malkin to respect nuance and balance in her usual incendiary distortion of the truth.
