Obama And Bloomberg Need Each Other

January 29, 2008 – 7:55 am

Is there a hotter ticket for President right now than these two?

1.) They have similar fundamental beliefs;
2.) they both can appeal across party, racial and religious lines;
3.) they are both Washington outsiders; and
4.) most importantly, they are both extremely competent and very scandal free.

I would suggest that the more experienced and wiser Bloomberg get first crack at the top spot, with the understanding that Obama is the heir apparent. Bloomberg should not feel threatened by the ambitious Obama and should assign him a multitude of important roles within his administration. Unfortunately, the possibility of an independent tapping a Democrat for a national unity ticket is slim to none. Good government types around the nation should be salivating over this potential alliance and devise practical ways for it to happen.

  2. Bloomberg/Obama will never happen.

    They’re both competent, but how many of Obama’s supporters would want to see him cast in the neutered role of vice president, especially since so much of his appeal is youthful energy– and the promise of change at the top that it represents.

  3. What about a Bloomberg-Lieberman ticket? Besides the obvious downside and impossibility that two Jews have of being elected nationally, they are similarly competent, independent and can draw across party lines. Not everyone prioritizes youthful energy over real world financial, political and foreign policy experience.
