It was bad enough when Senator Ted Stevens was requesting $225 million to construct a bridge to an island of 50 people. But, his recent shenanigans to place a formerly non-public hold on newly proposed accountability in federal spending legislation not only reeks of irony, but perfectly demonstrates everything that is wrong with a system of virtually no accountability.
Bringing home the bacon has replaced bipartisanship as the priority for our elected lawmakers. The public should be privy to how the servants of the people spend the people’s money.
