Clinton’s proposal to suspend the 18.4-cent-per-gallon federal gasoline tax for the summer — an idea belittled by most economists and rejected by Obama as a political gimmick — proved to be a winner in West Virginia. Voters supported the gas tax suspension by an almost 2-to-1 margin. Those voters who supported suspending the gas tax broke for Clinton, 74 to 19 percent.
Apparently, West Virginia voters fail to appreciate and/or understand the basic economic rules of supply and demand. McCain and Hillary are hoping the rest of the country follows suit and supports saving a few bucks a month so we can become even more dependent on a resource controlled by cartels and terrorist organizations. Playing on the stupidity and fears of Americans is a very bipartisan tradition.

It has become a tradition because it works.
No one ever went broke (or lost an election) underestimating the intelligence of the American consumer (or voter).
Their contempt for the electorate mind is a theme I have echoed time and time again in these commentaries.
They just dont appreciate how fortunate they are, maybe things should be taken away from them and then the will see.
Exactly who are the ‘they’ cited in the Cape Town posting?
