Will The Dems Snatch Defeat From The Jaws of Victory…AGAIN?

January 22, 2008 – 1:50 pm

The disastrous Bush administration and the deep unpopularity of Republicans have given the Democrats a golden opportunity to capture the White House.

So it’s particularly frustrating (and frightening) to see the leading Democratic candidates fighting with each other and perhaps inflicting irreparable damage on the party’s chances of winning in November.

Senators Clinton and Obama are in a tough fight for the nomination itself, but they should keep their eye on the ultimate goal: WINNING IN NOVEMBER.

They need to do that by pointing out the differences with the Republicans, NOT by tearing each other down and engaging in ugly personal attacks that could turn off voters and drive them into the arms of the Republican candidate.

We’ve already had the Supreme Court deny Democrats the White House; it would be unforgivable for this year’s candidates to inflict so much damage on themselves that they would bring about a similar fiasco.

And someone needs to remind Bill Clinton that he’s not running and should therefore SHUT UP!
