I hate to invoke John McEnroe when it comes to something as serious as our national security, but I couldn’t help myself after discovering that earlier today the Bush administration approved the sale to Saudi Arabia of 24 UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters, radios, armored vehicles and other military equipment worth more than $6 billion.

That’s right. Not only are we funding both sides of the War on Terror (via our ridiculous overconsumption of Middle East oil), we are literally arming both sides as well. After the latest round of tax cuts geared almost exclusively to the wealthy, we really could use the money, but it this the most intelligent way of going about it? Remember this little nugget the next time the administration calls Democrats (no angels themselves) traitors for daring to question the actions of our esteemed commander in chief. Maybe for his next move, the President can send over U.S. troops to fight with the insurgency.
